Tucson Climate

Tucson has over 300 days of sunshine plus 2 rainy seasons each year.

The evenings are relatively cool, except for the Summer season: July- mid September. Besides the heat, summer also brings the monsoons, which usually starts in the late afternoon.

The onset of the monsoon season is determined by 3 consecutive days at the mean surface dew point of 55 degrees fahrenheit or greater.

Many Tucsonans look forward to the monsoons arrival.  The lightning displays are amazing.

The monsoons generate heavy rains, high wind gusts, as well as thunder & lightning.

The  Spring & Fall seasons bring vibrant colors to Tucson. Observers will see: wildflowers, desert shrubs & Ocotillo leaves changing colors, as well as blooming cacti.

The Winter season: December-February can get a bit cooler, although you will still see Tucsonans in shorts and short sleeve shirts. Light sweaters are perfect for most evenings.

The second rainy season arrives in the Winter. Rest assured, there won't be enough rain to brag about.

Every year, you can expect the Santa Catalina Mountains to the north & northeast and the Rincon Mountains to the east  to be lightly covered with snow.
